Artisn is created is translucent 3D printed panels hovering above RGB lights that pulse and move with a pattern in respose to timing and audio in the room. As voices spike and objects move, Artisan picks up sound and translates it to rythmic animated patterns. Like sparks that move and fluctuate, artisan fills the room with a beautiful sequence of light and soft colors, highlighting the word Artisan.
Artisan prompts the viewer to ask the question, in what ways am I an authentic creator? We all perform and put on appearences at times, looking to be someone we aren't in order to feel and project relevance. Magazines, movies, stories, ads.. they all project an image that's been doctored and tightly currated. Resumes and online profiles project our best.. but what if at the end of the day, our efforts to project kept us from living a better life?
Sit with the piece and let it turn into a question. If I was an authentic artisan, what would I make? What would I create? What would i invision? Many times our most authentic selves remain hidden behind translucent curtains of outward projection. We act configured, proper, built up, virtuous. But inside, we reject the part of us that wants to authentically create, because we fear critiquite and failure. What would you create if could be your auhentic self, with nobody to impress?
